I have iTunes 10 (10.0.1.22) installed, and I cannot get it to prompt me for a firmware file.
When I hold left shift down and click 'Restore' it tries to install the latest version of the firmware, and not the one I wish.

Is it related to iTunes 10? Or could I be doing something wrong?

Wise words.
The iPhone 4 is rather different from the iPhone 3G/3GS in that everything is bolted to the front screen, (as opposed to the 3G/3GS where everything is attached to the rear cover).

Also as you mentioned, its very hard to replace just the glass on the iPhone rear cover, you need the entire unit. Same goes for the front touchscreen, it can't be separated.

We've also got an iPhone Repair business, but we are located in Australia! It's definitely worth going to a professional repairer, because there are so many mistakes you can make along the way. Any established repairer will have fixed many iPhones and have learnt by making many of the mistakes themselves. So you as saving yourself a lot of time and hassle by hiring their hard won experience.
